Summer is always my favorite season. So it’s always a little bit sad to me when it ends. I love going to the beach or the pool. I love sitting on my back porch and reading. I love the family picnics we always have and watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. Everything about summer is amazing.
This summer is a little more sad for me because in just a little over a week, I’ll start high school. I am both excited and nervous for that. I don’t know what to expect. I know that everything will be okay, though. At least my best friend, Lydia, is going to be in the same homeroom as me. So that will be a good way to start the day.
As I spend my last day at the pool, reading a copy of a great new YA book that I discovered, I think about how much fun this summer has been. There was the beach trip that my family and I took to Panama City Beach in Florida. There was my birthday (June 10th), which was so much fun because all of my friends threw a party for me. And there were so many days where I just hung out with Lydia and we had a blast.
I don’t want the summer to end, but I know it’s time to move on to the next chapter of my life: high school.
